Our client, a leading re-insurance company based in Dublin 4, are currently seeking a Senior Corporate Accountant for a 9-12 month contract. The Senior Corporate Accountant will report to the Treasurer and will be responsible primarily for the investments, compliance and regulatory reporting of the reinsurance operations. This is an exciting role with opportunity for growth in a dynamic business environment.


  • Perform the monthly investment accounting and reconciliation process including the par value reconciliations, and work with the investment managers to reconcile any differences
  • Assist with the completion of the investment reporting package
  • Perform the quarterly bookings of intercompany loans and preparation of tax packs
  • Prepare and reconcile FX exposure analysis
  • Assisting with Solvency II regulatory reporting
  • Coordinate all aspects of Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, including maintenance of internal control documentation for Bermuda and European subsidiaries
  • Work with the risk management team to ensure documentation and compliance with risk and control related policies and procedures
  • Participate in the planning, development and related tasks of business systems and enhancements
  • Coordinate work efforts with external auditors and the Internal Audit Department
  • Participating in the financial reporting process, performing additional duties or ad hoc reporting as required


  • A professional accounting qualification is required
  • A minimum of four years of post-qualification professional experience which should be in the reinsurance industry or with a “Big 4” accounting firm
  • Proficiency in US GAAP for insurance and reinsurance reporting
  • Preference will be given to candidates with financial reporting experience within a SOX and SEC regulated environment
  • Experience in Irish GAAP Statutory reporting and knowledge of current statutory requirements
  • Very strong analytical, documentation, organizational, presentation and project management skills
  • Capable of delivering results both independently and as part of a team, with a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
  • A natural ability to use initiative and self-manage, with ability to handle confidential information with absolute discretion
  • Strong computer skills, in particular, proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of applications, including Excel and Access, and General Ledger systems
