My client, one of the largest international reinsurance groups, is hiring for a Technical Accountant to join their busy finance team for a 11 month FTC. This role is based in their International HQ in the City Centre.


  • Take full ownership of assigned block of treaties and liaise with clients associated with this block as necessary. This position requires co-ordinatation with the internal Corporate Actuarial, Underwriting and Finance/ Investment teams, managing the delivery of requirements to various stakeholders
  • Responsibility for maintining records on SAP accounting system and maintaining a high-quality, auditable technical accounting file for the portfolio
  • Prepare and send out monthly billing accounts and data summaries to retrocessionaires
  • Participate in quarterly review of all contracts within assigned portfolio and highlight potential issues to management prior to sign off
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors as required
  • Produce regular and ad-hoc reports for internal and intergroup customers
  • Other ad hoc responsibilities as they pertain to administration of the portfolio and fulfilment of local & Group reporting requirements
  • Claims administration including updating claims database, verifying policy existence, confirmation of claims payments, quarterly reporting and analysis of claims
  • Adminster loss data for onward reporting to Group
  • Cash management including follow up with debtors for outstanding cash and statement of accounts and allocation of cash receipts in the SAP accounting system
  • Provide short and medium-term liquidity data to Investments & Treasury team – exchange information regularly regarding expected technical payments and receipts


  • Third level qualification preferred
  • Newly qualified accountant [ACA/ACCA/CIMA]
  • 2+ years experience in an accounting role (insurance or reinsurance experience an advantage)
  • Solid understanding of computerised accounting packages and multicurrency accounting
  • Previous experience of working with SAP an advantage
  • Excellent computer skills with a comprehensive knowledge of MS Office product Excel
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven track record of working to and meeting deadlines
  • Understanding of key technical terms of reinsurance contracts and how they transpose into technical accounting structure is an advantage
  • Attention to detail & acccurate
  • Customer focused – ability to satisfy the requirements of business partners and internal customers alike
