Our client, one of the world’s leading PLCs, is recruiting for a Group Financial Analyst to join the a highly commercially-focused team within the business. This function works cross-divisionally to solve real life problems by applying accounting principles. The team is at the core of most major developments in the Group; deals, acquisitions, mergers, leasing, revenue etc, and offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work on projects at a high level.

In addition to problem-solving for the Group, the team is also heavily involved in year-end and interim reporting as well as producing the announcement docs every year so, the position offers broad experience. The team are keen to stress that they actively work to maintain a good work/life balance and benefits include bonus, pension, healthcare.


  • Contributing to the Group accounting team’s external reporting tasks
  • Involvement in finalising the impact on the Group of transition to IFRS 16 Leases and IFRS 9 Financial Instruments. This will involve coordinating work streams; liaising with auditors and divisional / local finance teams; and preparing material for communication to the market
  • Assessing the accounting implications of potential deals with business development ream members
  • Supporting newly acquired business to along with the company’s accounting policies
  • Resolving IFRS accounting issues with colleagues, including the internal reporting, internal audit, tax and treasury teams, along with operational finance teams and divisional controllers
  • Refining the Group accounting manual
  • Assisting with ad-hoc projects that arise


  • Interest in IFRS
  • Focus on adding value to the company by meeting customers’ needs and being flexible in doing so
  • Motivated to gather a good understanding of commercial arrangements in operating companies, in order to be able to provide practical accounting advice
  • Organisational skills to manage multiple deliverables and use decision making capabilities and judgement to prioritise
  • Ability to engage multiple stakeholders with varying objectives
  • Confidence to address and withstand challenges as they arise, while maintaining positive relationships
  • Comfortable in addressing large gatherings
  • Exceptional attention to detail


  • Strong financial accounting background essential
  • Experience of IFRS 16, IFRS 9, control assessments under IFRS 10 Consolidated Financial Statements, Opening balance sheet preparation, divestment accounting and writing accounting positions papers Is advantageous
