Our client, a reinsurance group based in Dublin 1, are seeking a Financial Analyst to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis. Ideal candidates will be Big 4 qualified accountants with 2+ years PQE.

This role will report directly to the Senior Technical Accountant.

Responsibilities

  • Ownership of a portfolio of treaties and responsibility for the performance assessment of same
  • Review treaty executive summary and policy wording for each treaty in order to gain a full understanding of the portfolio
  • Quarterly treaty administration and accounting for portfolio
  • Monitor and record all major losses in accounting system and provide reporting analysis thereon
  • Ensure forecasting is well coordinated & produced to a high level and on time
  • Complete technical analysis of new deals & new accounting standards
  • Produce reports to a high standard as follows;
    o Board & Audit Committee reports
    o Produce reports for quarterly sign off for ASI (Advanced Solutions) & L&H (Life & Health)
    o Quarterly files
    o Claims reporting
    o Ad hoc reporting
  • Participate in quarterly review of all contracts within assigned portfolio and highlight potential issues to management prior to sign off
  • Document all journal entries to the SAP accounting system in the accounting file and maintain a high-quality, auditable technical accounting file for each contract
  • Cash management including follow up with debtors for outstanding cash and statement of accounts and allocation of cash receipts in the SAP accounting system
  • Provide short and medium-term liquidity data to Investments & Treasury team – exchange information regularly regarding expected technical payments and receipts
  • Preparation and analyses of reports as well as providing insight to internal and intergroup stakeholders
  • Review and agree intercompany technical accounts balances
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors as required

Requirements

  • Qualified accountant [ACA/ACCA preferable]
  • 2+ years post qualified experience in an accounting role (insurance or reinsurance experience an advantage)
  • Solid understanding of computerised accounting packages and multicurrency accounting
  • Experience of producing reports to a high standard
  • Previous experience of working with SAP an advantage
  • Excellent computer skills with a comprehensive knowledge of MS Office products (Excel)
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven track record of working to and meeting tight deadlines
  • Strong analytical and report writing skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Solid understanding of key technical terms of reinsurance contracts and how they transpose into technical accounting structure
  • Excellent communication skills
