Our client, a leading Pharmaceutical company, is seeking a Financial Accountant to join their team on a 6 month contract, in Dublin City Centre.


Key project tasks for the duration of this assignment will include but are not limited to:

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts and reporting pack to support the Finance and Support Services Manager and Head of Operations in presenting our financial performance against plan to the Senior Management Team (SMT), Committees and Council as required
  • Coordinate month-end activities with relevant members of the finance team to ensure timely month-end close and reconciliation of banks, creditors, debtors, fees, etc
  • Manage trial balance and reconcile all balance sheet control accounts on a monthly basis
  • Ensure the organisation’s financial transactions are captured and posted accurately and in a timely manner
  • Manage the posting of all month-end journals including accruals and prepayments
  • Prepare and reconcile deferred registration fee income
  • Prepare cashflow forecasts
  • Manage the reconciliation of all bank accounts and ensure proper balance of funds held in line with the organisation’s Investment Management Policy
  • Maintain the Fixed Asset Register
  • Prepare and process the payroll for staff and for Committees and Council members at all times ensuring compliance with government pay policy and relevant circulars, preparation and submission of P30/P35 returns, reconciliation of payroll and posting payroll journals
  • Assist and support budget holders in the preparation of the 2019 budget and the organisation’s overall annual budget for approval by Council
  • Prepare monthly actual performance against budget reports including analysis of variances
  • Meet with budget-holders on a monthly basis to review performance and manage forecasting
  • Prepare and manage the completion of internal audits pertaining to the finance function and input into any interim external audit that may arise
  • Maintain the internal financial control system including the implementation of any audit recommendations
  • Calculate and submit on time for payment all tax returns ensuring that thecompany is at all times fully compliant
  • Co-ordinate compliance requirements with the provider of the Irish Institute of Pharmacy services for drawdown from, and reimbursement by, the Department of Health
  • Prepare reports and statistical returns for the Department of Health and the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform
  • Support the day-to-day contract management of any outsourced services such as building management and procurement services
  • Participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives that contribute to the continuous improvement and the delivery of the 2018-2020 Corporate Strategy
  • Other project tasks as assigned by the Finance and Support Services Manager, Head of Operations and/or the Registrar/Chief Officer


  • A relevant professional qualification from a recognised or prescribed accountancy body (such as ACA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA, etc.)
  • Two-three years’ PQE in a similar role with exposure to financial and/or management accounting, including strong accounts preparation experience, payroll preparation and processing, budget preparation, taxation and internal/external audit preparation
  • Practical application and knowledge of financial accounting systems, in particular SAGE 200 or other similar ERP systems
  • Practical application and knowledge of payroll systems in particular SAGE Micropay or similar payroll systems
  • Excellent IT skills, in particular Microsoft Excel to an advanced level, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and other applications such as Revenue Online Service (ROS)


In addition, the following are considered desirable:

  • Experience of a similar role within the civil/public service
  • Knowledge of public sector accounting guidelines and policies
  • Knowledge of public procurement guidelines, procedures, regulations, public sector pensions
