Our Client is a provider of retail financial services in the Irish domestic banking market. It offers a broad range of banking products and financial services to its customers. The Financial Accounting and External Reporting team is responsible for the collection, consolidation and evaluation  of  the  Groups’  financial  performance  and  the  preparation  of  accurate  financial  reports  on  a monthly,  quarterly  and  annual  basis.  The  team  are  responsible  for  reporting  on  the  Retail  &  Treasury elements of the Group’s P&L and Balance Sheet, all Securitisation related reporting including management accounts  and  investor  reports,  the  production  of  the  half  year/annual  report  and  quarterly  Finrep.

The candidate will be involved in the provision of financial and management accounting expertise within the finance  function  along  with  involvement  with  some  significant  projects  within  the  group.  The successful  candidate  will  have  excellent  opportunities  to  learn  and  progress  both  within  the  Finance function and the Group.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accuracy of the general ledger and seek improvements and efficiencies in the population of the general ledger
  • Assist with the preparation and posting of month end journals and monthly subsidiary accounts
  • Assist with the preparation and review of the Annual Statutory Accounts of the Group, the Group’s subsidiaries and specific Securitisation entities
  • Assist with coordinating the collection, consolidation, and evaluation of financial data and the preparation of accurate financial reports on a timely basis such that all deadlines are met
  • Assist with interpreting the financial results for the group to management and recommending improvement activities
  • Drive continuous improvement in the monthly close process and seek efficiencies within any manual processes
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors to ensure issues are resolved and closed out during the reporting process
  • Assist with the preparation and review of FINREP quarterly returns in accordance with CRD IV
  • Assist in ensuring robust accounting controls are in place. This includes ensuring documented accounting policies and procedures are in place and robust controls in relation to journals are in place ensuring that the Group Internal Control requirements are met
  • Liaise with colleagues in Tax and Credit departments to ensure effective collaboration, communication and issue resolution, including the preparation and reconciliation of the monthly loan impairment note

Requirements

Banking Sector Expertise

  • Ideally trained within big 4 with a focus on financial services sector
  • Good knowledge of the Irish banking sector and business
  • Strong analytical skills and a high level of commercial awareness are essential
  • Strong appreciation of the importance of robust controls
  • Strong desire to progress career within the banking sector, and
  • Understanding of Securitisation would be an advantage

Content/Technical Knowledge

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
  • Strong technical knowledge of IFRS accounting standards and financial reporting processes; and
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel, Work and PowerPoint skills
