- The purpose of the job is to prepare in conjunction with the Manager Reporting & Control the Management Accounts for the bank. The incumbent is also responsible, as directed by the Manager Reporting & Control, for preparing the Board pack and building and improving the management information for effective decision making and forecasting. The incumbent will verify that the financial reports accurately reflect the profitability of the bank.
- The incumbent assists the Manager – Reporting & Control in the profit planning, budgeting and forecasting process and verifies that the financial reports accurately reflect the profitability of the business.
- The incumbent is responsible for ensuring that a robust system of financial controls is maintained throughout the bank and reviews/approves the reliability of all MIS reporting.
- To prepare procedures/updates for Manager review to ensure all MIS, forecasting and budgetary process are robust.
Responsibilities
Preparation of all MIS reporting to assist in the budgetary process
- Preparation of daily/monthly financial reports including the Daily P&L to management as directed by the Manager – Reporting & Controls including variance analysis and insightful commentary
- Monitors in conjunction with the Manager – Reporting & Controls business performance cost and capital expenditure
- Assist the Manager – Reporting & Controls in the analysis of business profitability by ensuring adequate monitoring by business lines
Assist in the preparation of the Management Accounts package
- In co-ordination with the Financial Reporting Manager & the Manager Reporting & Controls prepares the management accounts package for stakeholders
Preparation of the Board reporting package
- Preparation of quarterly Board financial reports as directed by the Manager – Reporting & Controls
Preparation of financial plans and budgets in conjunction with the Manager – Reporting & Control
- Preparation of the profit plans, budgets and forecasts – including compiling budgets with the business units and providing meaningful analysis and commentary.
- Assist the Manager in developing and enhancing the annual budget and quarterly forecast process as necessary
Responsible in conjunction with the Manager – Reporting & Control for the enhancement of processes to ensure a strong control environment ensuring adequate procedures and system automation
- Review the department’s processes and make recommendations for efficiency improvements with a view to enhancing and improving where possible
- Make recommendations/improvements and changes to the current system and operations
Assists the Manager Reporting & Controls in building a capital planning model for management reporting
- In conjunction with the Manager Regulatory Reporting build/oversee and deliver a capital planning model
- The system will enable the production and verification of capital usage, capital plans and RWA reports
Requirements
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA etc.) with at least 3-4 years of post-qualification experience
- Some experience in budgeting/forecasting and preparing management reports in a similar role would be an advantage
- Knowledge and understanding of accounting developments impacting financial services
- Strong commercial acumen, a genuine interest in the business and economic environment and the ability to bring that knowledge and understanding to bear on the business
- Excellent communication skills
- The individual must be highly motivated, ability to perform under pressure / manage tight deadlines whilst not compromising on quality
- Able to proactively manage demands of competing stakeholders
