Accounting Manager – Grade II

The BAI is as an independent regulator for radio and television broadcasters in Ireland. They have an immediate vacancy for an Accounting Manager- Grade II, Managers are expected to contribute actively to the implementation of the BAI’s strategic objectives, to the continuous improvement of the organisation in terms of its effectiveness and efficiency This role is an initial 12 month contract with a possibility of being extended for a second year.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the successful and timely delivery of BAI’s draft statutory accounts
  • Financial management reports for internal and external stakeholders
  • Overseeing and coordinating the BAI’s external audit process
  • Managing the BAI’s internal audit function
  • Directing, interrogating and signing off on the day-to-day operations of the Finance function
  • Strategic management of the BAI levy process including liaising with broadcasters, levy calculations and debt management
  • Implementing the BAI PMD Policy and delivering people management and development of the team of staff in the Finance function to ensure the highest standards of proficiency
  • Preparing and presenting reports for the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee and the Authority of the BAI as required
  • Providing strategic leadership and direction in the BAI’s financial reporting activities to include the BAI’s financial IT systems
  • Providing financial support and assistance to all areas of the organisation in support of the achievement of the strategic objectives

Requirements

  • Qualified ACCA, ACA, CIMA or CPA with 5 years PQE
  • Relevant management experience in a finance function
  • A sound knowledge and understanding of public sector finance, ideally in a regulatory or levy-funded environment *highly desirable*
  • Have strong planning and organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively and manage a significant work load
  • Possess excellent written communication skills in a variety of forms including policy documents, correspondence and reports. Excellent presentation skills are essential
  • The ability to work in a matrix environment and manage projects outside of a strict finance environment
  • Experience in the financial administration of public sector grants
  • Experience in Treasury Management
  • Experience in liaising with Boards/Audit and Risk Committees
