Our client, a leading captive insurance company, is seeking an Account Manager to join their team based in Dublin 2.


Summary of Role: 

  • Act as the main client contact and be responsible for the total management of allocated companies, staff training and development
  • Proactively lead and co-ordinate the activities of the team allocated to each client account, and be the focal point for the overall management of accounts
  • Ensure that client’s accounts (including statutory accounts) are produced and delivered in accordance with all relevant standards and agreed timetables
  • Ensure that business conducted by these companies is in compliance with the Irish Insurance and Companies legislation and any other relevant statutory requirements

Key Responsibilities and Duties:   

  • Responsible for the work carried out by the Assistant Accountants who work on client companies
  • Be proactive in developing the financial policies of the client and ensure that those policies are successfully implemented
  • Maintain regular contacts with clients arranging meetings and Board meetings with Principals and agree agendas, travel, accommodation and entertaining arrangements
  • As leader of the account management team develop excellent working relationships with other team members
  • Ensure that the staffing resources allocated to particular clients are in a manner commensurate with the provision of a high level of service and at an acceptable level of cost
  • Work closely with the Technical Insurance Department to ensure that policies and endorsements are issued in a timely manner and that all claims are properly reviewed prior to settlement
  • Work closely with the internal audit departments of client companies
  • Ensure that the client companies receive their tax certificates on a timely basis
  • Ensure that the Account Executive is kept informed of all relevant issues relating to client’s accounts

Ensure that:

  • All information required by clients is delivered to them in accordance with agreed timetables
  • Payments made to or received by the client company are posted correctly in the books of account, the general ledger and other registers of the clients are properly maintained
  • The revenue accounts and balance sheet are prepared in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and the timetable laid down by the Principal
  • Treaty accounts (where applicable) are properly maintained and settled with re-insurers
  • Premium invoices are issued and premium taxes are settled on a timely basis
  • Produce such other financial and insurance information as the Principal may require
  • Ensure that statements showing the client’s cash flow position are supplied to the Principal on a timely basis or as required
  • Ensure that expenditure is properly specified, duly authorized and that all costs are properly controlled
  • Ensure the timely payment of monies due to and from the client
  • Monitor and report on client company investments
  • Ensure the timely completion and filing of client company tax returns
  • Oversee all company secretarial matters in conjunction with the appointed company secretary for each client company
  • Ensure maintenance of Client data base
  • Be involved in any projects, at the request of management
  • Be responsible for negotiating fees through coordination with the Senior Manager, Branch Manager and the Account Manager
  • Identify and act upon cross-selling opportunities
  • Develop local and overseas business relationships


  • Qualified Accountant with at least two years PQE
  • Accountancy practice experience desirable
  • Experience of managing large scale/long established client relationships – MNC experience desirable
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal with senior stakeholders i.e. MD/CFO
  • Ability to hit deadlines and exceed expectations
  • Ability to be commercially aware and help wider business identify service gaps
